Advertising Standards Authority states that companies must be able to provide proof of their humane claims. Beauty without Cruelty is an accepted independent organisation able to audit such proof.

In South Africa an estimated 100 000 animals are killed in painful experiments every year. Beauty Without Cruelty has been investigating the humane status of manufacturers and their products for 40 years. The results are published in The Humane Guide as a free service to the public.
